Combat Overview

United Lands boasts many changes to the vanilla combat system. Here you can learn about all the differences.

Hostility

Hostility is a measure of how aggressive a player is. This can be considered a 'reputation' system by some. Different hostility levels will give different benefits or drawbacks. Read about the full system .

Explosion PvP

This form of PvP has been heavily nerfed on United Lands. The following methods of combat do little to no damage:

  • End Cystals

  • Respawn Anchors*

  • TNT Minecarts

We have done this because explosive PvP can be incredibly overpowered. It highly favours a tiny subset of users who are skilled in this method and allows them to be disproportionately powerful compared to the rest of the server, making combat uninteresting and often frustrating.

*Respawn anchors cannot be charged outside of the Nether.

Combat Tagging

As custom on most servers, to punish players logging out mid-combat, we've installed a simple combat log timer. If you disconnect while the timer is showing at the top of your screen, you will instantly die, counting as a kill for your opponent. The timer is 30 seconds long and starts from the most recent hit landed by either side.

When you have been tagged in combat also expect the following to happen:

Elytra Control

While a timer is running, you're unable to activate your elytra to escape the battle, forcing you to engage or escape by more conventional means.

However, if you have an elytra already active and you get in combat while still in the air, your elytra will not deactivate. If you touch the ground you will not be able to use it again until the timer runs out.

Graves

TDLR; Graves will behave as normal regardless of a combat log. You cannot graveblock under all circumstances, and during wartime items will drop as normal under the correct circumstances.

Graves will exhibit their normal behaviour even if a combat log is to occur. Rules regarding the protected status of graves can be read and their exceptions to normal behaviour during war .
